Rules Overview
Tiles are souzu (1-9) and honors (East, South, West, North, White, Green, Red) only, 4 of each, 64 total. 13-tile starting hand, 34-tile live wall, 14-tile dead wall (including the dora/ura-dora indicators).
Dora and ura-dora are in play. Open tanyao and ato-zuke (late-forming yaku) are allowed. This is the aotenjou (no-ceiling) ruleset, so there's no cap on scoring.
Since the tile set is souzu and honors only, a winning hand is almost always honitsu or chinitsu.
A hanchan runs East 1 → East 2 → South 1 → South 2 → West 1 → West 2 → North 1 → North 2 (including dealer repeats). Both players start at 0 points with no point exchange between hands - the match is decided by final score.
